John's RGB Christmas Light Project - updated for 2009 with our custom-designed Art-Net bridge. |

Video Projector Shutters in the Field.

Video Clips [quicktime]

Clip #1 [5 MB, 0:30, no sound, 320 x 240]

This clip shows The Flapper responding to bumps and fades from a lighting console. The unit's vacuum fluorescent display is also shown. NOTE: The unit shown in this particular clip is no longer being shipped. We replaced the top-mounted vacuum display with a more economical LCD display. However, the mechanical and electrical specs of The Flapper are the same.

Clip #2 [1 MB, 0:30, no sound, 320 x 240]

4 units undergo final testing before being shipped out to a customer

Clip #3 [5.8 MB, :31, sound, 320 x 240]

This clip comes from an performance by the Ballet Department at the University of Utah. The video projector is a newish 3200 lumen Panasonic rigged behind the first border. Using an ultra-wide angle zoom lens, the projected image nearly fills the 40' white scrim. The video source is a Macintosh G4 running Final Cut Pro. A Sony Media Converter transforms the computer's firewire output to composite baseband video. Since this piece is quite dark at the beginning, the gray 'square' from an idling video projector would have been unacceptable.
