Portable DMX Console

WHEN YOU DON'T WANT TO HAUL OUT THE HOG...

These little friends were recently commissioned by the local corporate A/V company Mountain View Staging. They specialize in events which usually include a large hotel ballroom system and a dozen or so smaller breakout rooms.

Lately, their clients have requested smaller lighting systems in each of these satellite rooms - usually a speaker special or two, a corporate gobo on the wall, and some colored wash lights around the perimeter.

The portable DMX console allows them to adjust lighting levels in each room instantly and painlessly.

SIMPLE FEATURES

The first four knobs on the front of the console control DMX channels 1, 2, 3 and 4. The fifth knob is a 'master' controller for the first four, and it also controls DMX channels 5-512. So in just one small box, you can test and run an entire rack of dimmers. The MV Staging guys like to throw speaker specials on channel 1, washlights on channel 2, and gobos on channel 3. Easy, right?

THE REAR PANEL

If you look at the photos, you'll notice that the rear panel contains 2 5-pin XLR jacks. Each jack is driven by its own driver circuitry - basically acting as a built-in DMX splitter. Great for running data to dimmers on light trees scattered around the room
