...you can control it with your light board. This prototype was commissioned by a local theatre who wanted to control 16 DVD players simultaneously and automatically.
We opened one of the remote control units and analyzed the communication protocol. Then, we programmed the most useful IR codes (play, chapter skip, pause, etc) into a microcontroller which also receives DMX input. 5 high-powered IR LEDs guarantee strong and wide-angle coverage.
Now, a DMX level of, say, 10% is translated into the infrared code for 'play.' 20% stops the player and 30% skips to the next chapter. The front panel LCD display (not shown here) allows a target channel between [1 512] to be set. Also, it shows which codes, if any, are being transmitted.
If you'd like something similar, just let us know. This particular model is not a learning remote. You'll need to ship us your DVD player and remote for analysis. It only takes a day or so to capture the output codes, but if the actual machine to be controlled is here on the bench, we can guarantee compatibility.
Pricing starts at $300 for up to 15 IR codes.
