You asked and we delivered!

Just over a year ago, we posted the original DMX-IR Blaster. If you've ever wanted to control a DVD player or video projector from your light board, this is the system for you.

Since our client needed the system in a hurry, we didn't have time to make the device field programmable. Analyzing and storing the IR data format, which varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, is a decidedly non-trivial process.

Instead, we asked the client for their actual remote control and the commands (play, pause, etc) they wanted to have programmed.

We captured the IR signal from their remote, decoded the data and then hard-coded those commands into our firmware and sent it out the door.

Moving DMX channel fader '1' would power up their DVD player. Moving channel fader '2' would press 'play,' and so forth.

It worked perfectly, but as you can imagine, the system is difficult to reconfigure and didn't scale well to other clients.

But all that has changed.

The Field-Programmable DMX512-IR Converter fills an admittedly tiny niche - a spot in the market which, as best we can tell, isn't currently being served by anyone else.

After many late nights of designing, programming and testing, we're delighted to offer this nifty black box. Finally, you can control any DVD player, video projector or other IR-triggered equipment right from your light board.

The unit contains in infrared receiver which is compatible with just about every controller out there. The unit's intuitive menu interface guides walks you setp-by-step through the entire process: from capturing the original IR signal to assigning it to one of 16 DMX channels to running a flawless production.

Once stored in memory (up to 255 IR commands can be stashed in permament storage), these commands are re-transmitted when the appropriate DMX data is received.

It's simple, it's elegant, and we feel bad that it took so long to bring to market.

There are two models available:

Version 1: Store 255 IR commands; assign 16 commands to 16 DMX channels. Codes are transmitted when DMX channel values are greater than 1. $375

Version 2: Store 255 IR commands; assign up to 255 commoands to 16 DMX channels (Code 1 is triggered when channel 1 is between [1 15], code 2 is triggered when channel 1 i between [16 31], code 3 is triggered when channel 1 is between [32 45], etc. $425

Currently, these can't be purchased online. So call John at (801) 949-8294 between 10:00 and 5:00 Mountain Time to grab one for yourself.
